People say she's crazy, she's got diamonds on the soles of her shoes

This week has been insane so far, but that really isn't anything new for me at this point hehe. I have been super productive at work, going through old files and making sure all the ends are tied, things are a mess in the inventory control department and I have a ton to do for the transportation department, I foresee some overtime in the future.  School is wrapping up, I am finishing my last papers and projects and today after work I picked up Louie, came home and made dinner (yummy tuna salad sandwiches on bagels) did the dishes, then headed over to Ferndale to listen in on the Beautification committee meeting for my last journalism paper. There were only four people there and they were so funny and really nice. Then I went back home and cleaned up the house, took out the garbage and recycling and now Kyle is munching on his tuna and we are getting ready to take Louie for a walk around the neighborhood. I love having such productive days, I love being in "go go go" mode because the more I get done during the week means more relaxing time on the weekends!

I have actually thought a lot this past week on how to make the most of my time. The house needs so much work and we have so much to sort through, clean and organize. The whole place needs a good scrub and the yard is going to need a good haul. Plus there is the normal everyday cleaning and grocery shopping and whatnot. So, I made a new rule, Kyle and I are going to avoid going out or hanging out on weeknights. We both have been getting to work so late this semester and we need to fix that now that school is almost out. The plan is to hangout with friends on the weekend, have dinner with the parents on Sunday nights still, and I am going to make a point to keep either Friday night or Sunday mornings free for me to have alone time. I am looking forward to spending time reading or watching Gilmore Girls on DVD again, haha I am such an old lady.

No worries, it also should open up a little more time for me to blog! And I have some pretty cool things coming up that I really cannot wait to share with everyone, gah I am excited! It all starts tomorrow evening so stay tuned!

Wicket

Yesterday I came home from work and there was a box on my front porch from New York. I called Kyle to let him know and he told me I had a present but I was not allowed to open it until he got home. Of course I started to shake it up and down and try to guess what it was but all I could figure out was that it was pretty light. So I set it on the table and finished making dinner and Kyle finally pulled up the driveway. I practically pounced on him the minute he came in through the door and shook the box up and down again asking "Can I open it now??" Laughing at me he said yes and I tore that sucker open to find....Wicket!

Wicket is the most well-known Ewok from Star Wars. When I was a baby, maybe a year old at the most, someone bought me a stuffed Wicket and I know that it was floating around my parents house for the longest time and now I have no idea what happened to it. I was looking through old photos and found a picture of me as a baby sitting with it and showed it to Kyle and he finally made the decision to just look online for one, and he found one!

I know a lot of Star Wars fans out there don't like the Ewoks because they are basically teddy bears, but I have a slight obsession with stuffed animals. I actually have to go through and donate some of them because I have so many. When I was a baby I would even get excited at the Snuggle commercial on TV, that is how much I loved teddy bears so it only makes sense that I would love a teddy bear from Star Wars.

I seriously could not be a bigger dork right now, but my Wicket is so cool! I love it so much. Most girls love flowers and jewelry, I love Star Wars stuffed animals.

This is not the first time Kyle has done this either, he once bought me all of the Star Wars watches from Burger King, he also garbage picked framed prints from all three original movie posters and carried them all the way home on his head. He even stole the Star Wars toys for the happy meals from his work for me! Seriously, I love Kyle so much! The funny thing is, we only own a copy of "A New Hope" and Kyle just watched it for the first time at Lauren's back in November! I watched all the originals on tape with my brothers over and over again so many times as a kid. Everyone should watch Star Wars, at least once!

When you say Goodbye, I say Hello

Hello unexpected absence from the world of blogging, but I am back! I had a final exam in my Victorian lit class tonight, I think I did okay. Only 4 more quizzes, two more papers, one more project and a final exam to go! I think I am going to end up with all B's this semester which stinks because I had such a great start to this school year. But I will take it since the past three months have been so hectic with the move and all. But things are looking up because I am going to see my friends this week! Lots of girlfriends, some new friends are going to meet my old friends, and of course the highlight of the week the Tigers opening day!! so much fun!

Say hello to these cute flats I scored for $5 at Urban Outfitters during Christmas...then say goodbye to them. My Louie, the love of my life, ate them. Le sigh. It's my fault for leaving them out I know but still! Grrr!! It's okay though, at least I got some documentation. Had I known that this was going to be the only time I'd wear them I'd have worn a cuter outfit.

I have been spending my lunch breaks at work scanning the internet for things for the house! I am having everything shipped to my Mom's house since she is home during the day and it's funny because she keeps posting on my facebook every time I get a new package. Kyle and I picked out a theme for the house and it's going to be an "Up-north, retro-naturey" theme. Since most of our stuff is hand-me downs and has a seventies vibe to it already we just have to incorporate our own little touches. I can't wait to paint! We are painting the living room, hallway and kitchen first. I have been ordering curtains and pillows all week, the kitchen curtains don't match but I think they will still be cute. Which reminds me, I still have to take more pics of the inside of the house! Must do that this week. Lots to do, but the end of the week sounds promising, I can't wait to see all of my friends!

I had originally worn this outfit over two weeks ago but somehow managed to lose/delete the pics I took, so I donned the outfit again this Saturday to get a delicious lunch with Kyle at Christine's Cuisine in Ferndale and to make a quick thrifting trip at Value World in Warren. I got so many cute things to show off, lots of vintage and summery things! This dress I acquired from Mod Cloth during their Cabin Fever sale. Kyle picked it out actually, he really likes orange so it shouldn't have surprised me. I stole his big grandpa cardigan to keep warm because it's cold in the D!

These pictures were taken at Martin road park in Ferndale. I used to play soccer here almost every Saturday in the Spring and Fall growing up. I still have team photos of us girls all lined up in the park before a game. Soccer was so much fun growing up because it was for the city and it was a chance to meet different girls from different schools in your area. By the time we got to high school, I knew most of the girls on my team and we were pretty close-knit. I grumbled through practices, but I do really miss playing soccer sometimes.

Right now I am smelling the delicious tomato bisque soup that is in the crock-pot and impatiently waiting for Kyle to get home. I am going to make some grilled-cheese to go with it and it is still really cold outside so soup sounds perfect right now. As much as I love Winter, I admit that I am ready for some slightly warmer weather, at least in the 40's or so. But I am secretly glad that I get to indulge in comfort foods while it is still cold outside, yum!

I have been a terrible blogger this week! And I was just getting into a decent groove too. I am seriously bogged down with so much work, every time I think I might have a few hours free, another professor assigns us something that was not on the syllabus, or emails us last-minute instructions on a project, it's insane. My life revolves around Hamlet's treatment of women, memorizing the AP style guide, re-fixing papers and peer edits, comparing early Victorian lit with early Modern lit, registering for fall classes and oh yeah I also work 40 hours a week. I sound like a broken record but these past few weeks have been so crazy!

I am happy to report that I have registered for Fall 2011 classes and I am soooo excited! I printed out my last four classes I will ever take as an undergrad. Hopefully the last four classes I will have to take as a college student. I am 25, I am too young to feel so tired at the end of the day!

I am excited for some friend time that I finally got to schedule in. Unless you count Becky checking over my rewrites to before I submit them to the professor (it's good to have a friend who wrote for the newspaper in high school and won awards from the Detroit Free Press). I am going to have some hang time with Lauren on Sunday, our pups miss each other and we need to catch up on things. And then I created an event on facebook for a night out with the gang! I am taking Friday April 8th off, because it is a tradition for me and the guys to go downtown for the Tigers Opening Day. I even skipped school in high school to go hehehe. This weekend is full of paper writing, and studying. I get to write up a fake obituary for Micheal Moore, somehow find the right copy of Hamlet, and study some more.

Kyle and I went to see Thomas Friedman give a lecture at OU as part of our extra credit this week, he was really good! I have heard him on NPR before, but hearing someone speak in person does make a difference. He is actually pretty funny too, and he seemed genuinely happy to be there. We go there only a few minutes before it started so we sat pretty far back.
