Housewarming Invite Idea

Picture this. You've moved into a new pad. You are going to throw a housewarming to make sure the new place is properly christened. But what to do for an invite???? How about this: a cute illustration of the layout of your new home. Even non crafty peeps could easily do this but tracing the plans from your real estate agent!!! Well that's that sorted.

More Goodness From Rifle Made

I'm DYING over this invite. Rifle Made is seriously one of my favourite illustrators around. Period.

Invitations That Tell A Story

Boy meets girl.  Boy gets girl.  Boy and girl get engaged.  The same old story right?  Oh no, every pair have their own story to tell (like the Mardi Gras night the Big A and I started going out) and I love invites that do exactly that.

Bridesmaid Day

Today we are celebrating bridesmaids!  Those lovely friends and family that are most near and dear to you that get to be invovled in all the fun and exciting of getting hitched.

First up, how to ask your bridesmaids?  Anne of Rifle Design posted a lovely DIY idea over at Once Wed.  She loved the idea of formally asking people so she created this darling little mailer.  You can read more about it and grab the instructions over here.

Invitation Styles by Martha

I'm getting my butt into gear on the engagement party invites.  I was getting stumped on how to write the invitation so I decided to head over the Mecca that is Martha Stewart living for some inspiration.  Introducing Martha's "Anatomy of Invitations"  They are for weddings, but I think the basic tone can be reapplied for ... well... engagement invitations!

A Weekend Wedding

The Big A and I think having a full weekend away for our wedding would be great fun.  Perhaps some kind of group activity (Cricket match anyone?) brunches and BBQ's to bring everyone together.  A weekend agenda will be a must...
Oh and while we are at it check out this genealogy chart that was printed on the back of the programme so wedding guests could identify who was who at the wedding.  This apparently sparked lots of conversation between guests....

Yay! More Photo Booth Invites

It's photo booth invite time my friends!  Check out this adorable wedding invite from couple Piera Gelardi and Philippe von Borries (Cool names hey?)  Together they run fashion website Refinery 29.

Here's what the artist Bryn had to say:

“I made for my own birthday party in February ‘08. I organized a dinner party for 24 friends and was determined to send out handwritten invitations to each of them. I decided to use classic white paper dinner napkins and folded them like a card. On the front, I sketched a picture of the restaurant along with the date — almost in the style you might write on a napkin as a reminder for someone. Inside, the actual invitation words with details and information. It took some time to draw them for each invite, but since it was the same exact thing, I was able to churn them out pretty quickly.

It was a huge hit! People seemed delighted to receive these invites. Writing on napkins seems like a great DIY option that could be used in so many different ways!”

Bryn also does calligraphy and you can check out her site at paperfinder.  She also has a great blog paper tastebuds which you should check out.
